The land revenue department is a very old department in the state which has been in existence since 1874. Earlier, the Department covered several issues like forest, migration and labor, finance, industry, audit and bandvasti, agriculture, animal husbandry, irrigation, cooperatives, fisheries, archaeological and museum, customs, etc. The department was named the revenue and disaster management department on March 1, 2007. The state government has made an attempt to make the department modern in a phased way to fit the needs of the times and present times. The department's work seems to be careful to bring efficiency, transparency, and civic centricity in the work area through reforms in the infrastructure of the electronic administration of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department of the Government of Assam.
